Serie A TIM: biodegradable cups replace their plastic counterparts at the Sardegna Arena in Cagliari

Cagliari Calcio (Serie A TIM) has decided to abandon the use of plastic cups at the Sardegna Arena (16,233 capacity) in favour of disposable PLA cups (plastic cups made from renewable raw materials and fully biodegradable), according to the Italian club on 10/05/2019.

"About 4,000 cups are used during each home game. They have now been replaced by PLA cups, a material with the same consistency as plastic, but which has the benefit of being totally biodegradable. This measure also applies to the plates and cutlery in the hospitality area of the stadium, which will also be biodegradable," said Cagliari Calcio.

The initiative was first implemented during the match versus SS Lazio (Matchday 36 of the 2018-19 Serie A TIM season, 1-2) on 11/05/2019. Cagliari Calcio is the first Italian club to discontinue plastic cups on its premises.
