2018-19 Liga NOS: SL Benfica crowned champions of Portugal for the 37th time

Sport Lisboa e Benfica have been crowned champions of Portugal after beating Santa Clara (4-1) on Matchday 34 (final matchday) of the 2018-19 Liga NOS season, at the Estádio da Luz (64,165 capacity) on Saturday 18/05/2019 (kick-off at 19:30 CET). The Lisbon club ended the season with 87 points (28 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses, 103 goals scored and 31 conceded), two points above FC Porto (85 points).

SL Benfica has won 37 first division titles, more than any other Portuguese club. FC Porto (27 titles) and Sporting Clube de Portugal (18 titles) complete the podium.

Benfica have won four of the last five editions of the Portuguese first division. The 2017-18 Liga NOS title was won by FC Porto (88 points) with Benfica finishing second (81 points).
