Monaco-LFP deal: "A legal action set against a hasty, not transparent and insufficient arrangement"

"The leaders of the undersigned professional clubs have decided to initiate a legal action set against what appears as a hasty, not transparent and insufficient arrangement, in order to cancel this transaction," stated seven presidents or leaders of Ligue 1 or Ligue 2 clubs in France in a letter to all their peers on 12/02/2014. The letter seeks to cancel the agreement concluded on 24/01/2014 between AS Monaco and the LFP (French Professional Football League) which allows the club to retain its headquarters in the Principality for a payment of €50m over two years.

The signatories of the letter are Jean-Louis Triaud (Girondins de Bordeaux), Jean-François Fortin (SM Caen), Michel Seydoux (Lille OSC), Loic Fery (FC Lorient), Vincent Labrune (Olympique de Marseille), Laurent Nicollin (Montpellier Hérault SC) and Jean-Claude Blanc (Paris Saint-Germain).

They also addressed a second letter to the president of the LFP, Frédéric Thiriez, on 12/02/2014 to express their grievances and their willingness to take action against the deal he signed on 24/01/2014 with Dmitry Rybolovlev, president…
