"FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) told BMW's representatives that it was ending discussions with the automobile brand because of a lack of trust, but Bayern Munich does not want to comment on the reasons for this decision," reported the Swiss news agency AWP Finanznachrichten on 18/05/2019.

The German automaker BMW had previously publicly said it was negotiating with FC Bayern Munich over the possibility of acquiring the 8.33% stake in the club from its competitor Audi, as part of a ten-year deal, with would include sponsorship and other assets, from 2025 and estimated at €800m in total, according to multiple German media outlets on 10/03/2019.

"Negotiations have failed and we have ended discussions and will not become an FC Bayern sponsor," a spokesman for BMW told the German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on 18/05/2019.

The German automaker Audi should therefore continue its commitment to Bayern. Audi, which belongs to the Volkswagen Group, has been sponsoring the Bavarian club since 2002, and acquired 8.33% of the club's shares for €90m in 2011. The automaker pays Bayern…
