Premier League: Wolverhampton Wanderers FC install barrier seats at the Molineux Stadium

"Wolves are set to become the first Premier League club to install seats incorporating barriers in an existing stadium. The club has announced that all seats in the Sir Jack Hayward Stand (at the Molineux Stadium, 32,050 capacity) will be replaced this summer by a new barrier seating solution, furthermore all seats in the Stan Cullis quadrant will be fitted with an independent barrier, both options will fully comply with the Sports Ground Safety Authority's most recent guidance," announced Wolverhampton Wanderers FC (Premier League) on 14/05/2019.

Standing places have been banned in the United Kingdom since 1989 and the introduction of a law adopted following the Hillsborough disaster on 15/04/1989, in which 96 spectators were killed by being crushed to death during a match between Liverpool FC and Nottingham Forest at the Hillsborough Stadium, in Sheffield (ENG). The Sports Grounds Safety Authority is a public body, responsible for ensuring the safety of spectators in sports venues.
