2018-19 Premier League: TV audiences up 12% on Sky and 16 games with over 2 million viewers

TV audiences for 2018-19 Premier League matches broadcast on the Sky Sports pay-TV channels (126 matches) were up 12% compared to the 2017-18 season, according to the English league on 24/05/2019.

"Sky's coverage drew 16 audiences in excess of two million viewers, more than the past two campaigns combined.Sky also recorded its highest average live audience for four years and had its best viewing figures for a single match in seven seasons when Manchester City FC hosted Liverpool FC (on 03/01/2019)," said the League.

"BT Sport (42 matches) had its best ever Premier League season, including its largest UK live audience for a Premier League match, when 1.7million watched Liverpool v Arsenal FC (29/12/2018)," continued the Premier League.

"The BBC's flagship Premier League highlights programme, Match of the Day, drew its highest individual programme audience since 2016. In total, about 70% of the UK population watched the Premier League this season, either through Sky, BT or the BBC," added the League.
