Canal+: agreement to acquire the TV operator M7 present in seven European countries

The French free and pay-TV group Canal+ has announced an agreement to acquire M7, a Luxembourg-based TV operator, on 27/05/2019. "M7 is an aggregator and distributor of local and international channels, satellite and OTT platforms. It is present in Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania, where it has a total of 3 million subscribers, including 0.8 million on an antenna service," explained the Canal+ group.

"The acquisition price would be slightly higher than €1bn for a turnover of more than €400m and an accretive profitability for the Canal+ group and Vivendi," said the French group.

"Operating under different brands, M7 distributes major national free-TV channels and leading international labels, including Disney Channel, HBO, Eurosport, National Geographic, and Nickelodeon," said the TV group.

"This development will enable the Canal+ group, which has subscribers in France, Switzerland and Poland, to expand into additional European territories with 36 million households and a total population of nearly 90 million," explained Canal+…
