eSports: Nate Nanzer to leave Activision Blizzard (video game company) and join Epic Games (press)

Nate Nanzer is to step down as commissioner of the Overwatch League, Activision Blizzard's eSports competition, according to Nanzer on Twitter on 25/05/2019. Nate Nanzer had held the position since March 2017, and is considered one of the founders of the Overwatch League. Nanzer will join a competing publisher, Epic Games, according to ESPN on 25/05/2019.

Epic Games is the publisher of the Fortnite video game (250 million players registered on 21/03/2019) and has just acquired the publisher Psyonnix (on 01/05/2019), developer of the game Rocket League (50 million registered players on 20/09/2018).

Nate Nanzer will be replaced after his departure (date undisclosed) by Pete Vlastelica, former executive vice-president of Fox Sports, now in charge of Activision Blizzard's eSports activities.
