Turkey: Nihat Özdemir elected as president of the Football Federation "for a four-year term" (UEFA)

Businessman Nihat Özdemir has been elected as president of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) "for a four-year term" at the ordinary general meeting held at the JW Marriot Hotel in Ankara (TUR), according to UEFA on 01/06/2019. With 179 votes out of 183, Özdemir will succeed Hüsnü Güreli, acting president, since the resignation of Yildirim Demirören on 28/02/2019.

"The 69-year-old, who was a board member at both the Ankaragücü (Ankara) and Fenerbahçe (Istanbul) clubs, has served as TFF vice-president for the past four years," said UEFA on 03/06/2019.

"Özdemir, a member of various business associations in Turkey, pledged the strengthening of football infrastructures and relations with stakeholders, as well as maintaining a positive climate within Turkish football, seeking 'problem-free economic structures in clubs and consistent success'," added UEFA.
