Women's World Cup 2019: unprecedented exposure with one billion viewers expected

"In 2015, the Women's World Cup (held in Canada) drew 1.35 million spectators to the stadiums and had 750 million viewers (see audiences below). France seems ready to break these records and it is possible that the 2019 World Cup will have more than a billion viewers," said Fatma Samoura, FIFA secretary general and guest of honour at Think Football 2019, on 07/02/2019.

In France, host country of the Women's World Cup 2019, the private free-to-air television group TF1 will broadcast the 25 best matches of the 52 games. Matches of the French national team and the final will be broadcast on TF1 and the other matches will be broadcast on TMC (free-TV). The Canal+ pay-TV group will broadcast all the matches, including 27 on Canal+ and the other 25 on Canal+ Sport.

In the USA, home of the defending champions, the American pay-TV group Fox Sports, which holds the US broadcasting rights (in English) for the Women's World Cup 2019, will broadcast all 52 matches of the competition with 22 matches broadcast free-to-air on Fox's national TV channel, "more than any FIFA Women's World Cup ever,…
