Serie A TIM: Italian-American Rocco B. Commisso buys ACF Fiorentina from the Della Valle family

"Rocco B. Commisso is the new owner of ACF Fiorentina (Serie A TIM) after his purchase of the club was completed in Milan on Thursday," announced the Florence club (ITA) on 06/06/2019. The acquisition is estimated at €170m by the Italian media. Fiorentina was previously owned by Diego and Andrea Della Valle. The two brothers, whose family owns the Italian shoe brand Tod's, acquired Associazione Calcio Firenze Fiorentina, who were in the Serie C (Italian third division) at the time, in 2002.

Rocco Commisso is an Italian-American businessman who heads Mediacom Communications Corporation, an American telecommunications company that he has wholly owned since 2011. He has also been the majority shareholder of New York Cosmos (National Premier Soccer League, equivalent to the fourth division in the USA) since January 2017.
