European Cups: "More European matches for more stability" (Edwin van der Sar, Ajax / ECA)

"More stability is needed so that clubs can grow, and this is easier if you take part in a one of the bigger leagues, but we must also think about the others. The goal is to play more European matches and to do so you have to find an agreement and a balance that is compatible with the international calendar," said Edwin Van der Sar, CEO of AFC Ajax (Eredivisie) and vice-chairman of the ECA, on 07/06/2019.

A Special General Assembly (SGA) of the European Club Association took place in Malta on 06 and 07/06/2019, focusing on the theme of UEFA club competitions after 2024. 156 ECA member clubs from 48 countries met to discuss the reform project of European competitions.
