2018 Ryder Cup: an economic impact of €235.7m for France, host country of the competition

The economic impact of the 2018 Ryder Cup (28-30/09/2018) for the host country, France, was €235.7m according to a study by the Sheffield Hallam University's Sport Industry Research Centre, according to Ryder Cup Europe on 10/06/2019. "It represents a significant increase on the £106m (€135m at the time) of economic activity in Scotland as a result of Gleneagles hosting The 2014 Ryder Cup (the previous edition played on European soil)."

"The figure takes into account spending by all spectators and event attendees, plus all the organisational spending, including by the French Golf Federation (FFG) and French authorities on course and infrastructure upgrades, and the development of 100 municipal golf facilities inspired by the bid to host the event, as well as other indirect or induced spending," said the co-organising company.
