"The situation is clear and terrible: only three clubs in the five major leagues are on board with the European Cup reform project: Real Madrid and Barcelona in Spain, and Juventus in Italy," said Bernard Caïazzo, president of Première Ligue, the French union of primarily Ligue 1 club presidents, to News Tank Football on 17/06/2019.

Bernard Caïazzo, who is also chairman of the supervisory board of AS Saint-Étienne (Ligue 1 Conforama), attended the ECA extraordinary general assembly in Malta on 06 and 07/06/2019. On the agenda was "the reform of European club competitions from 2024 onwards."
