Piracy: beIN loses legal case against Arabsat but is satisfied with the French court's decision

"beIN companies (pay-TV groups beIN Media Group and beIN Sports France) fail to demonstrate the existence of a manifest unlawful disturbance or evidence of imminent damage that would justify granting requests to order Arabsat (Saudi satellite TV provider) to provide documents relating to the broadcasting of the litigious beoutQ (pirate entity) programmes in France or injunctions against it to stop broadcasting on French territory of the beoutQ satellite signal," ruled the le Tribunal de Grande Instance de Paris (French court), in the interlocutory proceedings on 13/06/2019. The beIN companies have been ordered to reimburse the legal costs incurred by Arabsat.

Nevertheless, beIN Media Group is satisfied with the following point of the judge's ruling: "The reports conclude that the beoutQ channels were available on 18 and 24/06/2018 on frequency 11919 MHz H and frequency 12207 MHz V via the Badr-4 satellite, operated by Arabsat... It also appears from Arabsat's own website that its Badr-4 satellite covers the MENA region and according to the footprint shown in the diagram of the site…
