Premier League: 800,000 international spectators each year, "spending £684m" (VisitBritain)

According VisitBritain, the British Tourist Authority and partner of the Premier League, football is the number one sport in terms of attracting international tourists with over 800,000 international spectators attending a football match in the UK each year and "spending £684m (€764m on 24/06/2019) during their time in the country," according to the 'International Football Research' study which focuses on football fans in Brazil, China, India, Norway, Sweden and the USA, and published by VisitBritain on 13/06/2019.

"VisitBritain found that the Premier League had a greater pull for tourists than the top leagues in other countries. Two-thirds, 66%, of those who had travelled to watch a football match in the UK saw a Premier League match, making it the most popular. This compared to 39% who had watched a top league match when they had travelled to watch football outside of the UK," said the tourism body.
