Spain: RFEF announces that it will "allocate more than €20m for women's football" in 2019-20

"The RFEF will allocate more than €20m for women's football during the 2019-20 season, an amount to which the investments made by the territorial federations (regional leagues) working with the institution that manages Spanish football will be added," announced the Spanish Federation on 21/06/2019.

"This information was presented by Andreu Camps, secretary general of the RFEF, at the meeting with first division clubs to explain the new model for women's football," added the RFEF, which has a new director of women's football, Iñaki Mikeo.

However, according to the Spanish Association of Women's Football Clubs (ACFF), the amount that the Federation would allocate "directly from its own funds" would in fact be only "around €900,000, which is what the RFEF has always invested in its national competitions," said the body on 21/06/2019.

The €20m mentioned by the Federation would include "the audiovisual rights that almost all the clubs have transferred, via ACFF, to Mediapro for the next three seasons (2019-2022), for €3m per year," explained the Association which is in dispute with the…
