Ligue 1 Conforama: Nîmes Olympique buys the Stade des Costières from the City of Nîmes for €8m

"Upon the initiative of Rani Assaf, the president of Nîmes Olympique (Ligue 1 Conforama), the City of Nîmes have finalised their agreement for the sale of the Stade des Costières (15,788 capacity), the price of which is set at €8m," announced the City of Nîmes (FRA) on 26/06/2019.

"A decision that will free the City from the heavy operating and investment costs of 30 years of development (the Stade des Costières was inaugurated on 15/02/1989). For its part, the club must develop its infrastructure and the observation of the outdated equipment is now in place. It is no longer adapted to the sporting challenges of a Ligue 1 club: safety requirements, infrastructure durability, attractiveness," explained the local authority.

"Rani Assaf has accepted the sale price set by the City at €8m. The City has taken into consideration the cost of the investments required to build the equipment necessary to accommodate the activities to be relocated (as they have been integrated into the annexes of the Stade des Costières, which will be destroyed)," added the City of Nîmes.
