Neymar case: Barcelona officially indicted for tax evasion

FC Barcelona (Liga BBVA) has been formally indicted for tax evasion as a legal entity in the case of the transfer of Neymar, said Judge Pablo Ruz, magistrate of the prosecution of the Audiencia Nacional (Spanish main criminal court) on 20/02/3014.

The Audienca Nacional estimates that €10m in 2011 and €27.92m in 2013 were generated, and that €9.1m in taxes were diverted from the Treasury.

"The club's actions have, at all times, regarding that operation (to sign Neymar) and in line with the available information, been fully compliant with existing law," the club said in a statement on 19/02/2014. The Spanish champions added they would be sending legal representatives to court "in the coming days" to defend their rights and interests. "At the same time (Barça) states its complete availability to collaborate with the justice authorities in this process, as it has been doing from the first moment, or in any other that might require its intervention," added the club.
