Women's World Cup 2019: an average of 4.17 million viewers for Italy's five matches on RAI 1 and 2

Italy's five matches at the Women's World Cup 2019 drew an average of 4.17 million viewers on the public TV channels Rai 1 and Rai 2 (from 09 to 29/06/2019). The average audience share was 27%. The matches were also broadcast by the pay-TV operator Sky Italia, from which News Tank was only able to record some of the audiences (see indicator below).

Italy's first two matches in the competition were broadcast on Rai 2. The average audience share posted (18.6%) was more than three times higher than the channel's usual audience share (5.82% in 2018). The remaining three matches were broadcast on Rai 1 for an average audience share of 32.7% (the channel's audience share in 2018: 16.75%).

Italy - Brazil (0-1, Group C), the Italian women's only prime-time match, was watched by an average of 6.525 million viewers on Rai 1 (audience share: 29.3%) and 778,000 on Sky Italia (audience share: 3.5%) on Tuesday 18/06/2019 (kick-off at 21:00 CET). The game represented a record audience in Italy for a women's football match.
