Eurosport Group: turnover down 4.7% in 2013, but profitability increased (+4.7%)

The sports pay-TV Eurosport Group achieved a turnover of €452.9m for fiscal year 2013, a decrease of €22.2m or 4.7% compared to 2012 (€475.1m), announced the French broadcaster TF1, the Eurosport group's majority shareholder, during the presentation of its annual results on 19/02/2014.

"This decline is due to a decline in non-advertising revenue this year, in conjunction with difficulties in the Spanish and Scandinavian markets, which were partially offset by the success of the chain in Eastern and Central Europe, as well as the development of Eurosport Asia-Pacific. Advertising revenues of Eurosport fell year on year, due to an unfavorable basis of comparison due to a rich sporting calendar in 2012 (Euro 2012, Summer Olympic Games in London)," said TF1.

"The Eurosport Group nevertheless continued to improve its profitability and saw its operating profits increase by €18.2m year on year to €81.8m. The operating profit margin reached 18.1% in 2013 (+4 7 points on the year)," said the broadcaster.
