Italy: exclusion of US Città di Palermo from 2019-20 Serie BKT for financial irregularities

COVISOC (Commissione di Vigilanza sulle Società di Calcio Professionistiche, the Italian football financial control) confirmed its decision to exclude Unione Sportiva Città di Palermo from the next Italian second division season for "lack of meeting of the economic and financial criteria necessary to obtain the national license for admission to the championship of Serie BKT in 2019-20," announced the control body that works from the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), on 05/07/2019.

US Palermo is refused for failing to provide the required financial guarantee (€800,000) in due form, as the document provided was also submitted late. Also, on the club's liabilities include non-payment of player salaries and various unpaid debts to the Lega Serie B and FIGC.

US Palermo also receives one penalty point in case of later registration to 2019-20 season by the FIGC Federal National Court, which also sentences Daniela De Angeli, former chairman of the board of the US Palermo, to a suspension of four months for not having paid a commission during a transfer of player.
