Euro 2016: the 53 teams plus host country France drawn into nine groups

The draw for qualification for the final of the Euro 2016, organised by UEFA (Union of European Football Associations), was held at the Palais Acropolis in Nice (FRA) on 23/02/2014.

Teams from 53 UEFA member federations were divided into nine qualifying groups: eight groups of six teams and one group of five (see composition below).
France, qualified automatically for the finals of the competition (10/06 to 10/07/2016) as the host nation, will face the five teams of Group I in friendly matches: Portugal, Denmark, Serbia, Armenia and Albania.

43.4% of teams involved in the playoffs (23 of 53) will qualify for the finals of Euro 2016:
The nine group winners, nine second place and the best third place finisher will qualify for the finals directly.
The eight other third place teams will contest a playoff in November 2015 to determine the last four qualified nations.

The nine qualifying groups for Euro 2016:

  • Group A: Netherlands, Czech Republic, Turkey, Latvia, Iceland, Kazakhstan
  • Group B: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Israel, Wales, Cyprus, Andorra
  • Group C: Spain, Ukraine, Slovakia…
