Italy: 28 million supporters, 4.6 million practitioners, 1.35 million licensees (ReportCalcio 2019)

28 million supporters, 4.6 million practitioners, 1.35 million licensees (including 1.05 million players) and about 568,000 official matches played each year (64% of them at the youth level), these are some one of the figures contained in the ninth edition of the "ReportCalcio", the annual report of the FIGC made public in Rome (ITA) on 09/07/2019.

"These figures confirm how football remains the main Italian sport movement, the FIGC alone representing, among the 44 sports federations affiliated to the CONI, 24% of the sports men and women and 22% of the clubs," underlined the Italian Federation.

"The 'ReportCalcio 2019' is complemented by an in-depth section devoted to the socio-economic impact of football: the practice of this sport in Italy has positive effects at the medical-health level and offers direct benefits in terms of inheritance and of a large part of civil society," added the FIGC.
