The Qatari mobile operator Ooredoo announced the installation of an HD (high definition) broadcasting network for the Qatari pay-TV company beIN Sports on 19/02/2014. The project was carried out in collaboration with the EBU (European Broadcasting Union).

This new network aims to improve the quality of the video stream between Paris (France) and Doha (Qatar) for the live broadcast of European competitions for which beIN Sports France holds the rights, namely Ligue 1, La Liga and Serie A, and whose studios in Paris transmit the signal to other channels beIN Sports.

"By improving broadcast quality, beIN sports will take viewers closer to the action than ever before, and offer significantly improved high definition picture quality," announced Ooredoo on 19/02/2014. "This world-class network implementation is another indication of our ambition to be the world’s leading sports broadcaster," said Mohammed Al-Subaie, executive commercial director of the beIN Media Group, on the same day.
