Bundesliga: 2013 winter transfer window

The 2013 winter transfer window of the Bundesliga was characterised by the lowest number of transactions (104) among the five major European championships and a balance of payments deficit of €15.4m.

German clubs favour the departure of their players in the form of loans (about 50% of the total), but use this type of contract much less than France and Spain for their arrivals (26.3% against 37% in League 1 and 44% in La Liga). Bundesliga clubs use mainly paid transfers (nearly 37% of their total arrivals), more than their counterparts in the European Top 5.

Bundesliga clubs conduct business primarily with each other: two of the three largest sales and best buys of 2013 winter transfer window of the first German division has been made between Bundesliga clubs.
