Manchester City WFC and Manchester United WFC will meet on Matchday 1 of the 2019-20 Barclays FA Women's Super League's season on 07/09/2019 at the Etihad Stadium (55,097 capacity), announced Manchester City (Premier League) on 08/07/2019.

This match will be the first Manchester derby in the history of the English women's elite division, with Manchester United playing in the top tier for the first time in the 2019-20 season, while Manchester City have already won the English title in 2015-16. This will be the second match played by the Citizens women's team at the Etihad Stadium, following a FA Women's League Cup match versus Everton LFC in 2014.

"Following an exciting summer of women's football and the Lionesses' form (semi-finalists) in France, we wanted to kick off the new season with a bang. Having the Manchester Derby as our home opener was the perfect opportunity to play a game at the Etihad Stadium and welcome our seven Manchester City Lionesses home," said Gavin Makel, head of women's football at Manchester City FC.
