FIFA: entry into force of the new disciplinary code, "More clear, more concise and more transparent"

72 articles instead of 147 previously, the fight against racism and discrimination completely recast, simplified measures against the manipulation of matches and a transfer ban imposed on any club that does not meet its financial obligations are a few features of the new FIFA Disciplinary Code, made public on 11/07/2019 and which comes into force on 15/07/2019.

This document was adopted by the FIFA Council at its meeting on Monday 03/06/2019 in Paris (FRA), two days before the 69^th Congress which re-elected Gianni Infantino (ITA-SUI) for four years (2019-2023) as president of the international federation.

"After almost 15 years without any major changes to its Disciplinary Code, FIFA´s new vision has now been reflected in the 2019 edition. The new code has been developed in consultation with the six confederations and other key football stakeholders. It is better structured, clearer, more concise (down from 147 articles to 72), more transparent and incorporates innovative modifications in the context of FIFA’s disciplinary proceedings," said the international federation.
