UEFA: Borislav Mihailov reelected president of the BFU, the Bulgarian Football Federation

Borislav Mihailov was reelected president of the BFU (Bulgarian Football Federation) on 16/02/2014. He will begin his third term, having been elected in 2005 and re-elected in 2009. Borislav Mihailov is also a member of the executive committee of UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) since 2011.

"He stressed the desire and ambition of the Bulgarian Federation to improve the level of its national teams and to complete construction of the new headquarters and training centre for the national teams in the current year," stated UEFA on 16/02/2014. "Borislav Mihailov also stressed the importance of close cooperation with the Bulgarian authorities."

  • Bulgaria did not qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil
    • Bulgaria finished 4th in Group B of UEFA qualification (9 points behind group winners Italy, and also behind Denmark and the Czech Republic).
  • In Group H of qualifying for Euro 2016 in France, Bulgaria will face:
    • Italy
    • Croatia
    • Norway
    • Azerbaijan
    • Malta
