Switzerland: cable car company Stockhorn acquires the naming rights to the stadium of FC Thun

Stockhornbahn AG, the company that operates the Stockhorn cable car, acquired the naming rights to the stadium of FC Thun (Canton of Berne, Switzerland) on 22/02/2014.

The stadium opened in July 2011 and was known as the Arena Thun. It now becomes the Stockhorn Arena. It has a capacity of 9,500 seats and was funded by the HRS ARCO and real estate groups.

A ceremony will be held in April 2014 for the formalisation of the agreement. The naming contract between the stadium operators and the cable car company Stockhorn will end in February 2025. The agreement is estimated at between €100,000 and €200,000 per year.

The Stockhorn Arena is found at the summit of the Bernese Alps (SUI) near Thun, which rise to an altitude of 2190m. Choosing the name of the facilities finalises the project. "Naming was not a priority when we built the stadium. Our project is not focused on short-term profits, but on a long-term cooperation," said Michael Kropf, the CEO of the venue.
