Huddersfield Town AFC: club partner Paddy Power launches a campaign for "unbranded football kits"

Huddersfield Town AFC (Sky Bet Championship) unveiled its 2019-20 sponsor-less home kit on 20/07/2019. The club is supporting the "Save Our Shirt" campaign launched by the Irish sports betting operator Paddy Power, a principal partner of Huddersfield Town for 2019-20 (agreement on 15/07/2019). The initiative supports a movement in favour of "unbranded football kits," said the club.

The club had previously unveiled a 2019-20 home shirt (17/07/2019) that featured the Paddy Power logo on a wide diagonal band across it (see below). After wearing this shirt in a friendly on 17/07/2019, the club revealed that this kit was actually a fake model on 19/07/2019. Before this revelation, the design of the shirts and its diagonal band had been controversial among Huddersfield Town fans. The initiative is part of the club and brand's communication plan.

"Paddy Power has relinquished the space on the front of the shirt that the company would be due as title sponsor," said the club on 20/07/2019.
