Fiorentina: "A stadium modelled on Bayern rather than on Juve" (Diego Della Valle)

"If I think of a new installation, I look over to the the Germans rather than the Bianconeri ("white and blacks," the nickname of Juventus). A stadium on the model of Juve? Instead, we look at Bayern Munich. We never talk about a 'Juve type' stadium, instead we think about a 'Fiorentina type stadium," said Diego Della Valle, owner of Fiorentina, to the Italian radio station Radio 24 on 25/02/2014.

Fiorentina wants to build a new stadium to replace the Artemio Franchi stadium (47,300 seats), inaugurated in 1931. The project hopes to provide a venue of 40,000 seats at a cost of between €150m and €200m. The stadium would be located in the municipality of Mercofir in the north of the Tuscan capital.

"Our intention is to do it, we're trying. The city of Florence is already working with our staff on this subject. We want a stadium that offers many services to the city and one that is very innovative," said Diego Della Valle.
