USA: ESPN to acquire Bundesliga broadcasting rights from 2020-21 onwards (press)

The American pay-TV sports channel package ESPN is on the verge of acquiring the Bundesliga's broadcasting rights in the United States from the 2020-21 season onwards, according to the New York Post, on 31/07/2019.

Nearly all of the matches are expected to be broadcast on the OTT platform ESPN+, according to the American newspaper.

The rights to the Bundesliga in the USA (2015-2020 cycle) are currently held by the American group Fox Corporation.

• ESPN+, an American OTT sports platform, could have between 8 and 12 million subscribers by 2024, according to its parent company The Walt Disney Company on 11/04/2019. The platform, which launched on 12/04/2018 in the United States at a monthly rate of $4.99 (€4), has "over two million" subscribers, said the group.
