Spain: Mediapro sells LaLiga broadcasting rights in public places to telecom operators

The telecom operators Telefonica, Orange and Vodafone have acquired, from the Chinese-Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro, the broadcasting rights in public establishments (bars, restaurants, hospitals, etc) in Spain to LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank, for the 2019-20 season, on 11/08/2019.

Mediapro acquired these rights over the 2019-2022 cycle, for an estimated amount of €160m per season on 25/06/2018.

Mediapro had sublicensed to Telefonica the broadcasting rights, in Spain, to the European Cups, for the 2018-2021 cycle, on 28/06/2018, three days after the telecom operator acquired the exclusive rights broadcast for the LaLiga Santander matches on pay-TV in Spain (nine out of 10 games per round; the one game free-to-air was acquired by Mediapro), for the 2019-2022 cycle.
