Germany: Fritz Keller, president of SC Freiburg, named sole candidate for DFB president

"The selection committee of the DFB unanimously proposes to its associations at the regional and Länder levels, as well as to the DFL, the candidacy of Fritz Keller for the presidency of the German Football Federation," the body announced on 15/08/2019. The election of the 13^th president of the DFB will take place on 27/09/2019 in Frankfurt am Main (Hesse, GER).

Fritz Keller is the president of the SC Freiburg (Bundesliga), elected to that post in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. "With the two functions being incompatible, it is with a heavy heart that I will resign from the presidency of SC Freiburg if I am elected president of the DFB," stated Keller.

The organization of this election follows the resignation of Reinhard Grindel, president of the DFB since April 2016, on 02/04/2019.
