UK and IRL: one 2019-20 LaLiga game per matchday (first 3 matchdays) broadcast for free on ITV4

The UK's private free and pay-TV group ITV has extended, for the United Kingdom and Ireland, the broadcasting rights for one game per matchday, for the first three LaLiga Santander matchdays of the 2019-20 season, on 17/08/2019. The broadcasting of 2019-20 LaLiga Santander matches on ITV 4 began on Friday 16/08/2019 with the Atheltic Club - FC Barcelona (1-0).

The agreement also includes the broadcasting of programmes with the best moments of each matchday on ITV and ITV4. ITV acquired the rights to broadcast one game per LaLiga Santander matchday, for the United Kingdom and Ireland, "until the end of the (2018-19) season," on 22/02/2019.

The call for tenders for LaLiga Santander's broadcasting rights in the United Kingdom and Ireland for the 2019-2022 cycle, launched on 11/07/2019, proved unsuccessful. Candidates had until 25/07/2019 to respond and received a letter indicating that the call for tenders was null and void on 30/07/2019, according to several specialised media.
