2019-20 Bundesliga: 3.6 million Sky Deutschland subscribers watch 8 of the 9 games on Matchday 1

Eight of the nine games on Matchday 1 of the 2019-20 Bundesliga season, played from 16 to 18/08/2019, posted a cumulative average audience of 3.648 million viewers on the channels of pay-TV group Sky Deutschland, according to data from the German audience measurement institutes AGF and GfK.

Eight of the nine games on Matchday 1 of the 2018-19 Bundesliga season drew an average of 3.55 million TV subscribers on Sky Bundesliga.

FC Bayern Munich - Hertha BSC (2-2), on Matchday 1 of the 2019-20 Bundesliga season, drew an average of 7.73 million viewers in Germany on the public-TV channel ZDF, on Friday 16/08/2019 (kick-off at 20:30 CET). Audience share: 29.2%.

FC Bayern Munich - Hertha BSC was also broadcast via the British OTT platform DAZN which did not communicate its audience figures. DAZN entered into a distribution agreement with the US broadcasting group Discovery on 18/07/2019. In addition to this agreement, DAZN has acquired, under sublicense from Eurosport, Lot A from the call for tenders for the Bundesliga broadcast rights in Germany and Austria (40 matches per season)…
