FIFA: a record 10 member associations as candidates to host the Women's World Cup 2023

"Following the unanimous decision by the FIFA Council to increase the number of teams taking part in the FIFA Women's World Cup from 24 to 32 as of 2023 and the subsequent reopening of the bidding process for that year's edition of the competition, FIFA has received an additional expression of interest from the Belgian Football Association (URBSFA)," said the International Federation on 19/08/2019. "This means that a total of ten member associations (MAs) have expressed interest in hosting the event - an unprecedented number," added the body.

In addition to the URBSFA, the federations/associations of nine countries are competing to host the next Women's World Cup: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Africa, and South Korea (for a joint bid with North Korea).
