34% of French people are interested in football according to the studies of professional football clubs created by IPSOS for UCPF (Union of Professional Football Clubs) and the LFP (Professional Football League) presented on 27/02/2014.

14% of French say they are passionate (or 6.5 million persons aged 16 and 75 years) and almost always follow all football competitions, far ahead of rugby (8%) and tennis (7%).

Ligue 1 is both the favourite football competition (cited by 81% of respondents against 64% for the Champions League) and the most watched. The survey also shows that Ligue 2 is more followed than all major foreign leagues: 34% against 30% for the Premier League or 27% for La Liga.

This measurement has existed since the 2008-09 season. It was completed in two stages:

- The "French and football" study is conducted with a sample of 2,015 respondents representative of the population aged 16 to 75 years (from 01 to 05/11/2013).
- The study of clubs' images is measured by studying 5000 French people interested in football between 16-75 years old (from 19/11 to 23/12/2013).
