UK: BT Sport extends its rights to broadcast the Bundesliga until 2016-17

British pay-TV channel BT Sport extended its two season broadcast rights in the UK and Ireland for the Bundesliga, announced DFL Sports Enterprises, the company that manages the commercial rights of the German professional football league, on 27/02/2014. The rights of BT Sport, valid for the 2013-2015 period, have been extended until the end of the 2016-17 season. The amount of the acquisition was not disclosed.

Starting in 2015-16, BT Sport will broadcast at least 115 Bundesliga matches live each season, 15 more than in 2013-14, and at least three matches of the German first division every weekend. The rights of BT also include highlights of the Bundesliga and the German Supercup. They are valid for all platforms.

"Never before has the UK had the opportunity to watch the Bundesliga like they do today. We are delighted to continue our collaboration with BT Sport," said Jörg Daubitzer, CEO of DFL Sports Enterprises.
