Germany: new DFL management, resulting from a structural reform, elected for three years

"The 36 Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga clubs have decided, this Wednesday at the general assembly of the Deutsche Fußball Liga eV in Berlin (GER), the composition of the executive board of the DFL for the next three years through 2022," announced the German League on 21/08/2019.

A structural reform of the DFL eV (Deutsche Fußball Liga eingetragener Verein) was adopted by the professional clubs of the top two German divisions at an extraordinary general meeting on 18/06/2019.

The new model, which retains the two pillars, association (DFL eV) and commercial (DFL GmbH) set up on 24/08/2016, endorses in particular the removal of the function of president of the DFL as "supreme representative of the German League" (a position held since 2007 by Reinhard Rauball, who becomes honorary president). "In the future, the CEO of "DFL GmbH" (commercial company) will also act as "spokesperson for the executive board" and will coordinate its work. Operational responsibility and communication to the outside will therefore be provided by one person," explained the DFL on 18/06/2019.
