DFL: Reinhard Rauball named honorary president, after 12 years at the head of the German League

"After twelve years as head of the Deutsche Fußball Liga, Reinhard Rauball is now elected honorary president of the DFL by representatives of the 36 Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga clubs," announced the German League at its General Assembly in Berlin (GER) on 21/08/2019.

A structural reform of the DFL e.V. (Deutsche Fußball Liga eingetragener Verein) was adopted by the professional clubs of the first two German divisions at an extraordinary general assembly on 18/06/2019.

The new model, which retains the two pillars, association (DFL eV) and commercial (DFL GmbH) set up on 24/08/2016, endorses in particular the removal of the function of president of the DFL as "supreme representative of the German League", a position held by Reinhard Rauball since 2007. Rauball, who is also the president of Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga), indicated in September 2018 that he would not continue his mission as head of the DFL beyond the term he has just completed.
