The DFL has presented a draft OTT platform called the "Bundesliga Pass" at its general assembly in Berlin (GER) on 21/08/2019. The platform is expected to be launched for the 2020-21 season, although the German League has not indicated a launch date. The cost of the subscription would be $7.99 per month (€7.20).

The "Bundesliga Pass" will allow the Bundesliga to be broadcast in international markets where there are no agreements with a broadcaster. Christian Seifert, CEO of DFL GmbH (and also spokesman for the DFL e.V. executive board), confirmed that the priority was first to obtain TV rights agreements in these international territories before implementing the OTT platform, which would only be used "in certain markets if required."

Most of the Bundesliga TV rights agreements have been signed for the 2017-2021 cycle. An OTT platform could thus serve as a negotiating lever in certain markets when discussing the extension of agreements.
