eSports: automaker Ford launches eSports division named "FordZilla" in 2019

Ford, the American automaker, has launched its eSport division, called "FordZilla" on 19/08/2019. The announcement was made official at Gamescom 2019 in Cologne (GER) where the brand has a Ford stand that allows "the participants to experience several immersive gaming experiences, including the Ford 4D simulator," from 20 to 24/08/2019.

"Ford is entering the race and is looking for the best drivers to form its first eSports team. Fordzilla will be recruiting players for France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom, as well as 'a European Fordzilla team made up of the best players from each national team,' said the brand. The teams will play on the Forza Motorsport 7 car racing simulator, developed by Microsoft's Turn 10 studios.

"Ford is part of the history of motor racing all over the world, and now is the time to build on that experience to apply it to the world of eSports," said Roelant de Waard, vice-president for sales and marketing of Ford Europe.
