Bundesliga: TSG 1899 Hoffenheim commits to becoming carbon neutral in 2019-20

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (Bundesliga) is committed to becoming carbon neutral during the 2019-20 season, by reducing its CO2 emissions while implementing a project that promotes carbon footprint offsetting, announced the club on 22/08/2019.

"TSG is set to offset approximately 3,000 tonnes of CO2 in advance of the time period until the end of the current season. Once the season has come to a close, a precise calculation of the carbon emitted will be undertaken and the offsetting will be adjusted accordingly," said the German club. To calculate its CO2 emissions, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim will also take into account, during home matches, the emissions emitted by the opposing clubs and referees when travelling to the PreZero Arena (30,150 capacity).

In order to offset all its CO2 emissions, the club will participate in a reforestation project in the Kikonda Forest (Uganda), where 8 million trees have been planted since 2002.
