FC Bayern Munich: Uli Hoeness to be succeeded by Herbert Hainer as president in November 2019

"Uli Hoeness (67 years old) will not stand for re-election as club president at the next annual general meeting on 15/11/2019," announced FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) on 29/08/2019. Hoeness was elected president on 25/11/2016 to serve in the same position as he had previously held from November 2009 to March 2014 and resigned from following a three and a half year prison sentence by the Munich court for "seven serious counts of tax fraud".

"Uli Hoeness recommended the nomination of Herbert Hainer as his successor as FC Bayern Munich president to the advisory board members, who have the statutory duty of nominating candidates for the club presidency. Following thorough discussion, the advisory board unanimously resolved to propose Herbert Hainer as a candidate for president to the club members," said the Bavarian club. Herbert Hainer, a former adidas executive, is currently vice-chairman of the supervisory board of FC Bayern München AG, the commercial company that manages Bayern's professional football division.
