France: "Première Ligue wants Ligue 1 to decide on Ligue 1 matters" (B. Caïazzo, AS Saint-Étienne)

"Considerations are currently being made regarding the governance of the LFP. What is the future of the organisation? The Première Ligue (union of primarily Ligue 1 club presidents) wants Ligue 1 to decide on Ligue 1 matters," explained Bernard Caïazzo, chairman of AS Saint-Étienne (Ligue 1 Conforama) and president of the Première Ligue union, during a new season press lunch on 03/09/2019.

The current governance model of the LFP, which initially provided for a non-executive president and an executive CEO, was unanimously adopted by the League's board of directors on 15/03/2016, then also unanimously by the extraordinary general assembly on 15/04/2016, before receiving the approval of the Federal Assembly of the FFF at its meeting in Tours (FRA), on 28/05/2016.
