Premier League: 160,000 counterfeit products worth over £5m (€5.61m) in total seized in 2018-19

The Premier League seized 160,000 counterfeit products worth more than £5m (€5.61m) through its anti-counterfeiting programme during the 2018-19 season, according to the English professional football league, on 05/09/2019.

These figures were unveiled during the sixth edition of "Football Against Fakes", an annual conference held this season at the Emirates Stadium (60,260 capacity) in London (ENG). During the conference, "delegates, including from law enforcement agencies, heard from industry experts and saw for themselves the difference between official merchandise and inferior fake goods. The conference also enabled attendees to develop key working relationships," said the Premier League.

In addition to the seizure of products in the UK and abroad, the programme has also removed 270,000 listings of counterfeit items for sale online, with a total value of more than £740,000 (€830,000).
