Barclays FA WSL: a record 31,133 spectators at the Etihad Stadium for the Manchester women's derby

Manchester City WFC - Manchester United WFC (1-0) on Matchday 1 of the 2019-20 Barclays FA WSL, drew a total of 31,213 spectators at the Etihad Stadium (55,017 capacity) on Saturday 07/09/2019 (kick-off at 16:00 CET), a record attendance for a women's match in the English league, according to The Football Association on 08/09/2019.

The previous Barclays FA WSL attendance record was set during the Brighton & Hove Albion WFC - Arsenal WFC match (0-4), with 5,265 spectators at the Amex Stadium (30,666 capacity) on 28/04/2019, nearly six times less than the new record.

The Chelsea FC Women - Tottenham Hotspur FC Women (1-0) game, on Matchday 1 of the 2019-20 English women's season, for which entry was free of charge, was also well attended with 24,564 spectators at Stamford Bridge (40,853 capacity) on Sunday 08/09/2019.
