Japan 2019: Rai acquires the exclusive broadcasting rights to the Rugby World Cup for Italy

Rai has acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights for Italy for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, according to the Italian public broadcasting group on 10/09/2019.

"The agreement provides for the broadcasting on Rai 2 of Italy's four group stage matches and a minimum of 17 matches on Rai Sport, including the opening match, quarterfinals, semi-finals, match for third place and the final on 02/11/2019," explained the audiovisual group whose first broadcast on Rai 2 will be the match between Italy and Namibia on 22/09/2019.

The 2015 edition, held in England and Wales, was broadcast by Sky Italia.

  • The 2019 Rugby World Cup will be broadcast by 30 broadcasters around the world, bringing content to more than 800 million homes in 217 territories, surpassing the record of 683 million homes set in 2015, according to World Rugby on 20/08/2019, one month before the opening of the 2019 tournament, to be played in Japan from 20/09 to 02/11/2019.
